Because of the ever increasing need for these types of communities, the Homestead at Rochester, at only ten years old, had to recently build an additional four-story building to keep up with the demand.

    The Responsive Home project was a collaboration between Pardee Homes, a member of the TRI Pointe Group, and Builder Magazine. The groups designed and built two showcase homes both with Uponor PEX Plumbing Systems. The Responsive Home project includes two models: the Contemporary Farmhouse and the Contemporary Transitional concept home designed to appeal to the nation’s 77 million millennials, born between 1981 and 1997, who represent the largest portion of the U.S. population.

    March 22 is World Water Day, an international day dedicated to learning more about the world’s water-related issues to inspire people to take action and make a difference. World Water Day dates back to the 1992 United Nations (UN) Conference on Environment and Development where an international observance for water was recommended. The UN General Assembly responded by designating the first World Water Day in 1993 and it has been held annually since then. Each year, The UN sets a theme for World Water Day corresponding to a current or future challenge. This year’s theme is “Water and Jobs”.

    It’s winter in Minnesota and the forced-air system in my house is working overtime to try and keep me comfortable. The number of times I have scurried over to the thermostat in my slippers to turn up the heat only to see it reads 75°F happens all too often. I just return to my icy-leather couch, wrap myself up in a heated blanket and persuade my dog to come cuddle with me—not for companionship, but for his furry coat.
