Uponor's Devin Abellon Named ASHRAE Distinguished Lecturer

04/25/2012

Devin Abellon, business development manager for Uponor Engineering Services, was recently named a Distinguished Lecturer for the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE).

As a Distinguished Lecturer, Abellon joins a select group of 71 professionals worldwide that provide ASHRAE chapters, student branches and other organizations with lecturers on relevant subjects of interest to ASHRAE members and guests.

In July 2011, his course “Embedded Tube Radiant Systems to Maximize LEED® Points” was approved for one (1) continuing education hour by the Green Building Certification Institute (GBCI) of the United States Green Building Council (USGBC). The course teaches how in-slab hydronic radiant systems can be used as part of an energy-efficient design solution to maximize Energy and Atmosphere credits for LEED certification.

“In this competitive marketplace, design professionals are looking for innovative ways to build better, smarter and more energy-efficient structures,” says Abellon. “Being a part of the ASHRAE Distinguished Lecturer program helps me extend my reach to an even broader audience of industry professionals to promote and raise awareness of the sustainable building concepts and superior comfort levels in radiant heating and cooling application and design.”

Abellon holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California at Santa Barbara and is a registered professional engineer in California and Arizona. He is the Programs Subcommittee Chair for ASHRAE TC6.5 Radiant and Convective Space Heating and Cooling, and was recently appointed as a Regional Vice Chair for Region X, serving California, Nevada, Arizona and Hawaii.

Abellon’s two-year term as a Distinguished Lecturer will remain in effect through 2014.
