Every 90 seconds a home fire is reported in the United States. And according to the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), eight out of 10 fire fatalities occur where Americans feel safest — in their own homes. Industry statistics indicate that installing a smoke alarm in your home cuts your chance of perishing in a fire by 50%, but installing a residential sprinkler system increases your survival rate to 97%.

Working smoke detectors are important to warn you and your family of an impending fire, but an Uponor AquaSAFE System can actually stop a beginning fire in its tracks — often before the smoke detector alarm sounds. In fact, industry statistics indicate that a working smoke alarm in your home cuts your chance of perishing in a fire by 50%. However, a residential sprinkler system increases your survival rate to 97%.

The Uponor AquaSAFE System combines the fire sprinklers with the home’s cold-water plumbing. It uses the same proven, flexible, durable Uponor AquaPEX® crosslinked polyethylene (PEX) tubing that provides water to the plumbing fixtures in your home so there is always a ready supply of water to the sprinkler heads if it is ever needed in the event of a fire.

They are barely noticeable. Each sprinkler can be recessed or concealed behind a special plate that falls away when the sprinkler activates.

The sprinklers in an Uponor AquaSAFE System respond to heat, not smoke. The odds of a malfunction are just one in 16 million.

It depends on the size of your home. Typically, this life-saving upgrade adds as little as 1.5% to the cost of constructing a new home. And adding a fire sprinkler system to your home may also reduce your homeowner’s insurance premiums.

Because Uponor AquaSAFE multipurpose systems do not require antifreeze or backflow preventers, there is very little maintenance. To learn more about the system, watch our Uponor AquaSAFE Homeowner Instructions video.
