Uponor Radiant Heating and Cooling Systems

For more than 40 years, Uponor has been the standard by which all other radiant heating and cooling systems are measured. The first to bring radiant heating to North America, Uponor (formerly Wirsbo), is the leader in hydronic radiant system design and application.

A hydronic radiant system consists of warm or cool water flowing through flexible PEX tubing embedded in the floor or in radiant panels. Radiant systems use the structure and surfaces of an area to transfer energy. In radiant heating applications, the energy moves away from the heated surface towards the cooler area; for radiant cooling, the energy moves towards the cooled surface from the warmer area.

Radiant Cooling — The Next Generation of Radiant

Combined low-temperature heating and high-temperature cooling integrated with the use of alternative energy sources make radiant the ultimate in low-exergy building solutions.

Because water has 3,500 times more energy-transport capacity than air, radiant is also fast becoming the energy-efficient alternative to forced-air systems. Radiant also helps building professionals acquire LEED
® for New Construction (LEED-NC) points in the following areas:

Pier 15 Exploratorium Video Case Study

After moving to a new location in April of 2013, San Francisco's new Exploratorium at Pier 15 is set to be the world's largest net-zero energy museum in the United States. Hear how this LEED® Gold facility incorporates an Uponor Commercial Radiant Heating and Cooling System with water from the San Francisco Bay.
