National Volunteer Week was established more than 40 years ago and is observed in both the United States and Canada to recognize and celebrate the efforts volunteers make in our communities.

At Uponor, we do more than manufacture PEX systems for residential and commercial plumbing, heating and fire safety applications — we strive to make a difference in the places where we live and work across North America. Uponor employees are given 24 hours of volunteer time off (VTO) each year so we can do just that.

Thanks to our generous employees, here is last year’s community impact by the numbers.

  • 1,700+ hours of VTO time to nonprofit organizations
  • 60+ charitable organizations supported
  • 400+ gallons of trash removed from parks and highways
  • 7,000+ meals made for Feed My Starving Children
  • 120+ hours dedicated toward engaging students in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM)

If you know people who continuously give back to their community, I’m going to ask you to do two things this week. One, thank them for all they do, and two, ask them how you can get involved.

Thank you to my colleagues who do great work all year long, whether it’s installing Uponor PEX in homes for Habitat for Humanity, giving blood on their lunch break to the Red Cross, or flying to Haiti for humanitarian aid in the wake of a hurricane.

We work hard and so do our benefits. If you want to learn more about Uponor, visit
